    After fitful start, no problems

Posted by Unknown on 1st Jan 2015

I had a dickens of a time getting an aftermarket cruise control for my 2006 Suzuki Swift (manual transmission). Suzuki warned me not to do it, and a local electronics store had my car all day but decided not to put in CC because they thought it would be unsafe. I got the Rostro from The Cruise Control Store online, and with the willing and patient help of their rep (who responded quickly to my emailed questions and concerns) and my local mechanic, the Cruise went in. In the first two weeks, I wasn't sure if it was successful. 90% of the time it worked like a charm, but occasionally it would cut out, or not resume, or start to resume and then cut out. I made an appointment for my local guy to check all the wiring, and somehow, that worked: I mean making the appointment! Since then (before and after the actual appointment) there have been no problems. I just got back from a 4.5 hour trip, each way, where I used the cruise under various conditions and speeds, with no problem at all. The local electronics guys were almost certainly trying to use a generic unit that would need to attach to my clutch, and it was something about the clutch switch that they were concerned about, I think. The unit I got connects to the car's computer, where the cruise function is available (so why Suzuki was against it is a mystery.) I recommend this unit, and The Cruise Control Store, very highly.
